JFK Surfaces & Innisfail
We’re not the out-of-town crew.
JFK Surfaces is headquartered on Highway 2A in Red Deer County — a few minutes north of Innisfail on the old highway. It’s the middle of the map we serve. For an Innisfail driveway, we’re not driving in from Calgary or Edmonton with a truck full of markup on the fuel bill. We’re local. We know the town lots, the acreages, the soil, and the ready-mix suppliers we’ll book from.
We pour driveways for homes off 42 Street, 50 Ave, and out on the acreage roads west toward Spruce View or east past the QE II. Same crew, same standards, same honest quote whether it’s a small in-town pad or a 400-foot acreage drive.
And we don’t give estimates over the phone. You get a real number after we walk your site — which is free, no pressure, no hard sell.
Innisfail driveway work
What we pour locally.
01
In-town residential drives
New pours and full replacements for homes in the Town of Innisfail. Standard 4-5" residential slab, wire mesh or rebar, air-entrained mix, broom finish.
02
Acreage driveways
50-foot to several-hundred-foot rural driveways on acreages around Innisfail, Bowden, Spruce View, Dickson. Sometimes with a pumper truck. Always with gravel prep.
03
RV & trailer pads
6" pads for RVs, boats, quads, sledding trailers — the toys most Innisfail-area folks actually have parked at the side of the house.
04
Garage aprons
The strip between garage floor and driveway. Poured level with the garage lip, sloped away, joint-sealed so freeze-thaw doesn't tear it up.
05
Tear-out & replace
Old cracked slab out, new proper base and new slab in. Saw-cutting, breaking, hauling all included in the quote.
06
Extensions & side pads
Widening for a passenger door swing. Adding a second parking spot. Extending the drive back to a shop or shed. Tied cleanly into the existing pour.
Innisfail specifics
What we plan for on Innisfail lots.
Town vs. county. A driveway inside the Town of Innisfail follows Town bylaws for setbacks, curb crossings, and Development Permits. Cross the town boundary and you’re on Red Deer County rules — different setbacks, different approval process. We know both and confirm with the right office before we quote.
Soil & base. In-town Innisfail is mostly clay and till — heavy, moisture-holding, hard on unreinforced concrete. Out on the acreages you get more variability. Every driveway we pour gets a compacted road-crush base sized to the soil we find, not a one-size-fits-all shortcut.
Acreage access. A concrete truck is heavy. On a long, soft, or muddy acreage road, that truck can sink, tear up your driveway approach, or get stuck. We look at access before we book the pour. If the road can’t take a full truck, we spec a pumper truck or wait for better ground.
Frost, salt, freeze-thaw. Same Alberta weather that beats up Red Deer beats up Innisfail. 32 MPa air-entrained mix, proper joints, sealed at 28 days, resealed every few years. That’s how you get 20+ years out of a slab instead of 5.
Farm equipment on driveways. A lot of Innisfail-area drives see the odd tractor, skid-steer, or loaded trailer. That changes the spec — thicker slab, heavier rebar, transition apron at the shop or barn. We ask what’s driving on it before we spec it.

Who you’re calling
A family-run local contractor.
JFK Surfaces was founded October 1, 2018 by Fabien Joseph Quesnel and Kyla Peters. In 2024 we relocated to 36009 Highway 2A in Red Deer County — about ten minutes from Innisfail. We’re licensed, insured, WCB covered, and BBB accredited.
Fabien brings 10+ years of trade experience to every job. Every driveway we pour is quoted, prepped, poured, and finished by our crew — not subbed out to whoever’s cheapest that week.
“Called Fabien on a Tuesday, he was out the next morning. Old asphalt driveway pulled up and a new concrete drive poured within a couple of weeks. Looks sharp and it’s dead flat.”
Common questions
What Innisfail folks ask us most.
Do I need a permit for a driveway in Innisfail?
+
Inside the Town of Innisfail, replacing an existing driveway in the same footprint generally doesn't require a permit. New driveways, widened driveways, or a new curb crossing typically need a Development Permit through the Town's Planning & Development department, and any curb work needs Public Works sign-off. On acreages inside Red Deer County the rules are different — we confirm with the county before we quote.
What kind of soil is under most Innisfail driveways?
+
In-town Innisfail is mostly heavy clay and glacial till — soils that hold moisture and heave hard in spring. Acreages west and south of town run into pockets of sandy loam and river-terrace gravels along the Red Deer River corridor. Both need proper base prep, but clay especially needs more compacted road crush under the slab or the driveway will heave every spring.
Do you pour driveways for farm-adjacent acreages?
+
Constantly. That's our bread and butter. Innisfail sits in a mix of small-town and rural — a lot of our clients are on acreages between Innisfail and Bowden, or west toward Spruce View, or east toward the county line. Long driveways, heavier reinforcement for pickup and farm equipment, and sometimes a pumper truck if the ready-mix can't get in. See our acreage concrete page for more.
How long does an Innisfail driveway job take start to finish?
+
From signed quote to poured concrete, usually 1-3 weeks depending on excavation, weather, and ready-mix scheduling. The pour day itself is one day (sometimes two for larger drives). Then a full week of cure before you drive on it. We book pours around the weather so we're not fighting rain or hard frost during the critical first 48 hours.
How much does a concrete driveway cost in Innisfail?
+
Every driveway is a different job — size, thickness, tear-out, base condition, access, and whether it's in town or on an acreage all move the number. We don't quote from a phone call because we don't want to lowball the number and then upcharge you when the truck shows up. We come out free, walk the site, and put a real number on paper.
Can you match my driveway to my neighbour's exposed aggregate?
+
Usually yes. Exposed aggregate depends on the stone in the mix — bring us a photo or a sample and we'll spec the mix with the local ready-mix supplier to match. Colours and stone types available in Central Alberta are consistent enough that we can hit a very close match on a new pour.
Do you also do farm concrete around Innisfail?
+
Yes. Shop foundations, grain bin pads, silage bunkers, feed pads, quonset floors, machinery storage — we pour rural concrete across every county around Innisfail. See our farm & acreage concrete page for the full list of what we do.
On an acreage? See our acreage concrete page or the full concrete services overview.
